Growing
The result of crossing the Grape Ape with Grapefruit makes a tasty and fruity strain. This sweet Indica dominant strain has a flowering period of 8 to 10 weeks, long enough to have a large yielding capability. She can be cultivated both indoors and outdoors and is a great choice for first time growers, or extract artists looking for the next big thing!
Indoor
Zkittlez Feminized is a low maintenance strain that is perfect for beginner growers, as she is so easy to grow. During the vegetative stage, she will remain short and when flowered stretch to 120-150 cm (47-60 inches). Applying plant training such as LST and topping will really enhance the canopy, making her a good strain for growers with limited height.
It is well advised to keep a good flow of air using multiple oscillating fans once plants start flowering, and be too vigilant of powdery mildew or Botrytis.
Outdoor
Zkittlez Feminized seeds turn into big plants when planted outdoors. We advise planting the seeds in Spring and using a 75-100 liter (16-22 gallon) fabric pot for the biggest plants possible.
The buds can become very thick and dense, so support is a must. It’s also important to keep an eye out for mildew and mold during the final few weeks of flowering.
Fungal resistance
Zkittlez Feminized can be quite prone to powdery mildew and mold, so it is advised to keep the temperature as close to 24 degrees Celsius (75.2F) and a relative humidity of 40%. A good air flow around the plants is essential to prevent any pathogens from affecting the plants.
Flowering time
Indoor
Indoor flowering time will vary from 56-70 days depending on phenotypes. Most plants are ready to harvest in 63 days. Growers who are looking for a fast finishing phenotype will find some amazing phenotypes to choose from.
Outdoor
Plants outdoors will be ready to harvest between the middle and end of October. It is also possible to plant clones outdoors in June and get a great bumper end of season harvest.
Yield
Indoor
Zkittlez Feminized is an easy to grow hybrid that is also a very impressive yielding variety. Commercial growers will benefit from the productivity of this strain, and can expect yields of 650 g/m² (2.1 oz per square foot), and when grown with hydroponics can increase yields to 800 g/m² (2.6 oz per square foot).
Outdoor
Outdoors, Zkittlez can grow huge, especially when trained from Spring time onwards. Yields of 1000 grams (35.5 oz) per plant are easily achievable. Growers who experience shorter Summers will still produce excellent results.
Plant height & structure
Like her name, she offers you a true chance to taste and see the rainbow. Zkittlez has thick and bulky flowers with green and purple colors, showing beautiful vibrant orange pistils in between. Plants will finish around 150 cm (60 inches) in height and grow wide and bushy.
Training
She reacts very well to being topped and tied down. To get the biggest buds possible, we recommend pruning the lower canopy one week prior to flowering. During the final weeks, the buds should be supported using a net or bamboo canes to prevent the side branches from toppling over.
Smell, taste and effect
Zkittlez has a distinct taste with notes of berries and lemon flavors. When properly cured, the Zkittlez adds a kind of sweet and sour funk.
The smell intensifies and releases some skunky characteristics. When lit, it will release a light, fruity and smooth smoke which is easy to inhale. A true charm is Zkittlez’ sweet-and-sour aroma that has hints of berry and lemon. For a true taste experience, the flavors are best brought forward during curing.
Smokers who don’t enjoy heavy indica dominant strains will love Zkittlez. Her effects are upbeat, energetic, relaxed and deeply motivated. The Vegetative stage - 18/6
As we do with all the seeds we plant, we like to germanite straight into the organic medium. Once the Zkittles seed has been placed 1.5cm beneath the surface of the soil, water is added and after 72 hours, a healthy bright green seedling emerges.
21 days into the vegetative stage and she is a fast growing plant, that has long internal spacing and thin side branches. The leaf structure is similar to a hybrid encouraging an open growth structure,
The temperature and humidity stays at 24 degrees Celsius and 70%, and so far the Zkittles plants are thriving. The height is 55cm and her width is close even bigger, so we prune some of the lower growth and add bamboo sticks around the sides of the pot.
30 days of feeding the bio grow and root juice, the plants are just under 70cm in height and ready to be flowered. When rubbing the stem there is a very clear candy, citrus aroma that smells absolutely amazing.
The Flowering Stage - 12/12
We change the timer over to flower the room full of Zkittles plants, and take this opportunity to switch over to the flowering nutrients. The plants stretch considerably during the first 20 of 12/12. And measure a height of 111.5cm.
Now these plants are becoming very bushy and large sized, so we make sure the bamboo canes are in place for extra support, and feed at 5ml per liter of water and check the humidity levels are close to 35-45%.
After 28 days of flowering, there is a wonderful aroma that fills the room anytime someone brushes past the Zkittles plants. There are frosty pre flowers at every internode, and will pack on a lot of weight over the next 5-6 weeks.
Day 45 of 12/12 and the buds are turning bright green with luminous orange hairs wrapping around the buds. The calyxes are pointy and small sized, however tightly together, so it advised to keep a strong air flow in the room when flowering this cultivar.
We start to flush the Zkittles plants after day 56, and will wait for her to fade and show all her beautiful seasonal colors. Now only water is given to the plants and we prepare to harvest in a few weeks.
The plants are harvested and hung to dry on day 66, making her a 9.5 week variety. Her final height is 141cm making her one of our tallest plants in the grow room, with sweet shop, lemon and berry terpenes that are out of this world!
Smoke Report:
When grinding a dried bud, the aroma can be described as sherbert, perfume, sour, lemon and berry sweetness. The flavors all the way down the filter are very similar leaving the mouth completely coated. Zkittles has a very upbeat, and happy effect that is ideal for daytimes and creative people.

“ I ordered a pack of Zkittles from the Nirvana website, and they arrived very fast with no problems. I grew one plant inside a homemade deep water culture system, and another in soil to see a side by side comparison. Using 2 x 1000w HPS and added LED. The DWC system comprises a 20 liter tub with air stones at the bottom, which is left on permanently.
The soil is from the local garden center and is mainly compost inside. Immediately I could see Zkittles is a fast growing strain, so made sure I gave her the extra space. There are 5 other strains from other seed banks growing in my room at the same time.
She quickly took over most of the space in my room and needed a cage building around once flowering. Be careful as she can become very bushy so it is maybe a good idea to train in veg. What I like most is she is a heavy feeder, takes a high E.C and a fast growing plant, compared to the other strains I have in my room.
Her buds are not the biggest but the quality and terpene profile of them is another level and nothing I have ever smelt before. The hydro Zkittles grew almost 3 times the size of the organic one, so if you're a hydro guy, then this is a great strain. Have been growing Nirvana Seeds for almost 20 years and am very impressed by their Zkittles. “

Tried a few varieties and this one was most popular with friends. Grew two years and noticed plant was a little smaller at harvest than other varieties
Amazing taste
Another strain that I wasn't impressed with the first time I grew it, but had much better luck the second pack I bought. Good yield this time, and of course the sweet, sweet taste, almost doesn't taste like weed.
Three strikes
Unfortunately the lowest germination I've had to date. 2 packs 3 made it. Lovely product but didn't reap the rewards
