"There is nothing more frustrating after months of hard work than harvesting Cannabis plants that are small yielding. Not only will small-sized Cannabis buds dramatically reduce your return on investment, it can be a confidence breaker and leave you wondering what everyone is doing that you are not. Below, we explain 7 different ways to get the big yields and to beat your personal records each grow."

Plant Training Techniques

Training Cannabis plants to produce the biggest buds possible is an excellent way to get the most out of your garden. There are many methods that can be applied and these range from super-cropping, fimming, pinching out, tying down and pruning.

Every cultivar can react differently to plant training, so we recommended experimenting with different strains such as indica, sativa, or hybrids and find out what works best in that environment. Plant training is not only a great way to significantly increase yields and grow big Cannabis buds, it is also a way to control the canopy, final height and structure and shape.

What About Bigger Pots?

You will only grow a Cannabis plant to a certain size based on the pot size, no matter how intense the lighting or the nutrients being given. Big roots mean big fruits, and big pots are the best way to ensure that the root zone is well established and large enough to produce big yields.

We recommend using felt pots that allow the roots to breathe and, as a result, cause them to prune themselves, resulting in a prolific root mass. It is also advised to give the plants a much longer vegetative cycle, so they can establish themselves to become large sized. Here at Nirvana Seeds, we like to grow everything in a 25-litre fabric pot and will let the plants grow to a large size before flowering.

Boosters and Nutrients

There is a fine balance between how many nutrients you give the plants, how large the Cannabis buds get and how they affect the final taste. Adding specially designed boosters during the flowering period is one way to increase the final yields and appearance of the flowers.

Be careful if you are using chemical nutrients, thinking the more you feed the Cannabis plants, the bigger the buds will get. Organic boosters are far more user-friendly and are a much better option for a beginner grower to avoid any nutrient lock out or deficiencies from the chemical feeds. How the buds will burn and taste is the most important thing to consider, and giving the Cannabis plants a thorough 2-week flush with plain water will guarantee the smoothest flavor and best experience.

Long Vegetative Periods

To apply plant training techniques effectively and fill out a large-sized pot or container, then it is necessary to grow the plants under 18/6 for a long time frame. Indoor growers who want considerable plants will typically vegetate there Cannabis plants for 8-12 weeks.

It is during this time when the main trunk is a good inch or two in diameter and has hard wood side branches that will require supporting later on to avoid the buds from toppling over. The only downside to a longer growth period for bigger yields is high electricity bills and more nutrients are used.

Intense Lighting

The intensity and efficiency of your indoor grow light will be a huge difference maker in the final size and structure of your Cannabis buds. We advise using a high-pressure sodium light that is either 600-1000w and avoid anything under 400w of power.

L.E.D lights are very effective for growing Cannabis plants and some argue that Cannabis buds grown under L.E.D are more frosty, greasy, and have a dense and tighter appearance. Many indoors growers now choose to supplement their lighting and to combine the spectrum from H.P.S, metal halide and L.E.D

Start With Big Yielding Strains!

Maybe, one of the reasons you find you are always underachieving when you calculate your watt per gram conversion, is simply down to the cultivar being grown out. Nirvana Seeds is proud to offer our 41 feminized strains that cover a wide range of large-yielding strains, and we would recommend researching them before buying to see how productive each is expected to be.

We strongly recommend Somango XXL feminized, Blue Dream Feminized, ChemDog Feminized, Green Crack Feminized, and Amnesia Haze Feminized just to name a few! These Cannabis strains will certainly help you on your way to achieving big yields of top-shelf flowers and will all require support during the flowering stage such as bamboo canes or a trellis.

Hydroponics For Big Yields

If you have been growing for years, and are happy with the Cannabis buds you are producing but would like to increase the yields, then perhaps hydroponics is a good idea. Unless you are a die-hard organic grower, we recommend trying out various hydroponics systems such as top drip, deep water culture, flood and drain, nutrient film technique and aeroponics.

It is advised to read up and watch as many online tutorials about how growing Cannabis plants in hydroponics works and what you need to be aware of and understand. Setting up drip lines, dripper stakes with coco and a 15-minute segment timer is the most basic form of hydroponics and is best suited for anyone making the jump from organic to hydro.

Nirvana Seeds Conclusion

Above, we have covered 7 ways to get the biggest Cannabis plants, resulting in the biggest indoor yields possible. We advise that you apply many of these points together, such as long vegetative periods, big-yielding strains, plant training, big pots, intense lighting, and the right balance of nutrients and boosters. Good luck growing those big yields and keeping your curing jars full of cup winning Cannabis buds!
