Growing Cannabis plants indoors, with limited space, can result in a grower needing to grow small and stocky plants that do not stretch much once flowering starts. Working indoors with a small grow once your lights and pots are in place can mean your actual space for plants can end up around 120-150 cm.

Indica Cannabis strains are well known for their squat appearance, resembling a bushy Christmas tree. Internodal spacing will be short with thick side branches. Once timers are changed from 18/6 to 12/12, for the first 2-3 weeks, indica plants will double in height.

When indoor Cannabis plants are left to grow too tall, the result is usually burnt plants that have grown too close to the lights. Under these circumstances, buds can deteriorate in quality and lose all essence. Controlling the height of your canopy is essential. Here are meticulously handpicked strains, personally selected by our beloved Alice, designed to flourish in a compact haven.

Gelato

Gelato has become a household name in Europe and the US recently, and is a cross of Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Cookies. A small and squat plant that is easy to grow and works incredible well in small spaces.

Not only is Gelato a low maintenance strain, once topped or tied down, her final height will finish around 120 cm (47-60 inches) meaning she is well adapted to low grow space. Gelato is a big producer of dense and sticky buds with a turn around time of 8-10 weeks.

Yields of 650 g/m² (2.1 oz per square foot) indoors can easily be achieved. We recommend adding support to help the side branches from falling over with weight.

Her flavor and aroma are a loud, earthy, cookie dough, vanilla and spicy combination. The effects are long-lasting, dreamy but uplifting and euphoric.

Hindu Kush

Hindu Kush is a classic Kush hybrid that is a favorite among breeders and connoisseurs. A backcross of the original Hindu Kush land race. Expect super resilient, indica dominant plants.

This cultivar will grow short and once flowered will double in height. Expect tight internodal spacing and for one main cola and lots of shorter side branches. An excellent strain for SOG and small spaces, and she can take high amounts of nutrients.

Hindu Kush is capable of yielding 450 g/m² (1.5 oz per square foot), with a flowering time of 9 weeks. When it comes to harvesting plants, the final height will vary from 90-120 cm (35-47 inches) tall.

The aroma and taste are earthy, hash sweet, citrus, spicy with pine notes. The effect of Master Kush is powerful, with a narcotic edge that gets stronger over time.

Master Kush

Master Kush is another Kush hybrid perfect for smaller indoor grow spaces, that is a cross of Hindu Kush with Skunk #1. The ultimate hybrid, who will finish between 100-120 cm (39-47 inches) tall.

This cultivar can take a significant amount of heat stress and will endure cold temperatures with ease. A wonderful entry-level strain for a beginner, as she is so easy to grow and maintain.

When grown indoors, yields of 500 g/m² (1.6 oz per square foot) can be harvested, with a flowering time of 8-9 weeks depending on the phenotype. With low stress training and pruning, it is possible to get small plants indoors.

Master Kush has a lovely Kushy, citrus, pine and earthy terpene profile with sweet overtones. The effects are uplifting, happy, creative and very talkative.

Ice

Ice is another indica dominant hybrid that is a cross of Skunk, Afghani, Northern Lights and Shiva. A 4 way hybrid that displays the most desirable traits from the parents, and works incredible well indoors.

Most plants once flowered will finish close to 100-120 cm (39-47 inches tall), so growers with short indoor space can benefit greatly from Ice. Not only is she easy to grow, this lady won’t be phased by heat stress and loves SOG.

Flowering time will take between 50-63 days, and yield of 600 g/m² (2 oz per square foot) are possible, We strongly advise training Ice during the vegetative period of 18/6 if working with short indoor spaces.

Ice has a unique earthy, menthol, citrus and pine aroma and flavor, with an effect that can be described as alert, focused and in deep thought. A great beginner level strain as she is so easy to grow.

LSD

LSD is another indica dominant hybrid cannabis strain that comes from a cross of Mazar-I-Sharif and Skunk #. This intriguing hybrid brings together the finest qualities of its parent strains, making it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced growers, especially those who prefer cultivating indoors.

When cultivated indoors, most LSD plants tend to reach a manageable height of around 90-110 cm (35-43 inches) after the flowering phase. This compact size makes LSD a fantastic option for indoor growers with limited vertical space. Furthermore, LSD demonstrates exceptional resistance to heat stress, making it a reliable choice for various growing conditions.

Under optimal conditions, yields of up to 500 to 600 g/m² (1.8 oz per square foot) can be achieved. For growers dealing with constrained indoor environments, it's recommended to implement training techniques during the vegetative phase, using an 18/6 light schedule.

LSD boasts a unique and captivating profile with its blend of earthy, woody, and sweet notes, accompanied by hints of spice. This distinct aroma translates into a flavor profile that tickles the taste buds with a mix of herbal and slightly fruity undertones. The effects induced by LSD are characterized by an initial burst of euphoria that gradually evolves into a relaxed and introspective state of mind. It's a strain that encourages contemplation and creative thinking.

Thanks to its ease of cultivation and balanced effects, LSD is often recommended for those new to cannabis cultivation. Its straightforward growth and remarkable qualities make it a cultivator's delight, providing both a rewarding growing experience and a unique, thought-provoking journey for enthusiasts.

Infact, Alice loves the LSD strain so much that she wants to share her passion with fellow cannabis enthusiasts. The aroma and smell of the buds is a very sweet and floral orange, with citrus, lime, and lemon notes. A beautiful smell that is accompanied by a clear, creative, focused and relaxed effect which last for hours.

Honorable Mentions

These may not have made the Top 10 list, however, Chem Dog, PPP, and Tangie are short to medium-sized plants that keep a low profile during the vegetative and flowering stage.

If you are a beginner grower, we strongly recommend working with the above strains, as well as our honorable mentions.
