Everyone has their own method when it comes to growing Cannabis indoors, and for some working with a high volume of smaller sized plants is often most practical. Sea of Green basically means that you fill your room or tent with uniform, short sized plants.

There are many benefits to growing in this format, as vegetative times of 18/6 are reduced to 7-14 days, nutrients are reduced and the most advantageous is electricity bills are dramatically lowered. Flowering time will typically take between 7-9 weeks depending on the cultivar, making SOG strains fast and ideal for commercial growers.

Plants that are best suited for Sea of Green will be indica dominant hybrids, that produce one main central cola, surrounded by tall side branches. SOG are perfect for those with limited space, height and need a quick turnaround time.

When you are limited to space and height, then you need a cultivar that will allow you to maximize space, without high levels of maintenance and training. Our team has sifted through what we consider some of our favorite strains for Sea of Green setups.

Skywalker OG

Skywalker OG is a powerhouse of a cultivar that was created by crossing Skywalker and OG Kush. A tall sized plant that likes to stretch once flowered, however, works wonderfully well when grown in a Sea of Green.

Her growth structure will be tall and pointy, with buds growing at every internode, causing one huge central cola. Flowering time can take between 8-9 weeks depending on the cultivar and under HID lighting Skywalker OG is an incredible performer.

Under the right circumstances, indoor yields of 600 g/m² (2 oz per square foot) can easily be achieved when grown closely together in small size pots. Ideal for small growing spaces and for greenhouse setups.

The flavor and aroma is a very loud, citrus, fuel, lemon and pine sol profile that has a strong chemical overtone. Her effects are thought-inducing, energizing and perfect for social scenarios and creative energy.

Pure Power Plant

PPP stands for Pure Power Plant, known for her easy to grow nature and large-sized yields when grown in a SOG. Created by crossing Original Power Plants and White Widow, you can expect exceptionally frosty plants that grow uniform.

Plant height will measure around 100 cm (39 inches) and flowering time will take between 8-10 weeks depending on the phenotype. PPP is easy to grow and when planted in small pots can produce an abundance of fat buds.

Indoors, she is capable of producing 600 g/m² (2 oz per square foot), and is also an effortless to trim strain that produces plenty of high-grade sugar trim.

Her flavor and aroma is a mix of earthy, pine with a pungent edge. An old school flavor that is much more pronounced when making bubble hash. PPP has an effect which is energizing, clear minded with the ideal balance of creativity and calm.

Nicole Kush

Nicole Kush is another banging Kush hybrid that was created by crossing Nicole and Kosher Kush. Fans of gas and fuel flavored strains will fall in love with Nicole Kush. Perfect for SOG set-ups and those who prefer small-sized plants grown closely together.

With a flowering time of 8-9 weeks, this fast finishing hybrid is easy to grow and does not require much maintenance or hands-on training once flowering. Plants will stretch to a final height of 90-120 cm (35-47 inches), so are not as tall as some other Kushes.

Yields of 600 g/m² (2 oz per square foot) can be harvested indoors, and be careful during the final few weeks of bud production, the aroma can become very intense.

The aroma and taste of Nicole Kush can be described as a blend of citrus, fuel, earth, pine sol and lemon. Her effects are dreamy and deeply relaxing, however are deeply creative and thought inducing.

Misty Kush

Misty Kush is an incredible plant when it comes to Sea of Green set-ups. A cross of Misty and Master Kush, plants will grow to a height of 90-120 cm (35-47 inches tall), with a uniform and homogenous appearance and structure.

A heavy yielding Kush hybrid that will require 8-10 weeks depending on the phenotype. When flowering, the side branches can become thick and have a baseball bat appearance.

Indoors, yields of 600 g/m² (2 oz per square foot) are possible, with some phenotypes finishing within 8 weeks, making Misty Kush a highly productive strain for SOG.

Her aroma and taste are a complex mixture of sweet, tropical and citrus terpenes. When smoking, the effects of this Kush hybrid are potent, and can leave you totally stoned and in your own world.

Master Kush

Master Kush is another classic that still ticks all the boxes as far as an elite cultivar is concerned. Created by crossing Hindu Kush and Skunk #1 genetics. Master Kush grows very well in a SOG set up, with plants reaching 100 cm (39 inches).

One of the faster flowering Kushes that we offer, with a flowering time of 7-9 weeks, depending on the phenotype. She can endure high amounts of nutrients and is not phased by mold or mildew.

Yields of up to 500 g/m² (1.6 oz per square foot) are possible indoors when grown in a SOG, with plants producing long branches filled with glistening buds from top to bottom.

Master Kush has a very sweet, pine sol, citrus and fruity flavor and aroma, with an effect that is very mellow, creative and motivational. An ideal choice for daytime and creative people.

Lithium OG Kush

Lithium OG Kush is a wonderful candidate for Sea of Green set-ups at home or at commercial level. A cross of OG Kush and Master Kush, you can expect uniform, and stocky plants that will finish between 90-110 cm (35-39 inches) in height.

Flowering time will take between 8-9 weeks indoors, depending on the phenotype. The buds will grow with a pointy and elongated structure that stack up tall, creating a large-sized main central bud.

When grown indoors, harvests of 550 g/m² (1.8 oz per square foot) are capable when grown in a SOG. Lithium OG Kush will stretch tall and is well suited for small spaces.

Outdoors, this strain can yield up to 750 grams (26.5 oz) per plant, and will require 8-10 weeks of flowering time. Most plants will grow with an indica growth structure.

Her flavor and aroma are rich and lip licking, with a mixture of earthy, citrus, pine sol, lemon and chemical overtones. The effects at first will be uplifting and energetic, then over time her therapeutic side will reveal itself.

Nicole X Banana

Nicole X Banana is a cross of two top shelf Kush strains, and was made crossing Nicole and Banana OG. The result is a terpene power house that will require 8-10 weeks of flowering time indoors.

Plants will grow as tall as 100-125 cm (39-49 inches) and are well adapted to small growing spacing and SOG setups. Nicole X Banana is a heavy yielding hybrid that is well recommended to commercial growers.

Harvests of 550 g/m² (1.8 oz per square foot) are easily achievable for cup winning Kush buds that glisten with large-sized trichomes. She is also a tough plant that can endure cold temperatures with ease and is not phased by pathogens or disease.

The flavor and aroma is a delicious blend of citrus, pine sol, fuel and chemical with gassy over tones. With a heavy hitting effect that Kush lovers will truly appreciate, Nicole X Banana is best suited for smokers with a high tolerance.

Candy Kush

Candy Kush is a cross between Trainwreck and OG Kush. The ultimate hybrid that is a must-have for those who grow with SOG set-ups and have a quick turn around crop rotation.

This hybrid will display the best traits from both parents, with plants growing as tall as 150 cm (59 inches) and a flowering time ranging from 7-9 weeks depending on the phenotype.

Indoors, yields of 600 g/m² (2 oz per square foot) are possible, with plants growing tall, with thin side branches and buds filling the plants from top to bottom.

Candy Kush has a unique flavor that fans of fuel and fruity strains will soon fall in love with. Her aroma and flavor can be described as fruit, candy, Kush with sweet notes. The effect is upbeat, talkative, and perfect for musicians, gaming and artists.

Green Poison

We end our top 10 list with Green Poison. A cross of Skunk with Early Skunk. The outcome is a tropical sweet cultivar that is great for SOG set-ups and small indoor space. Plans will grow uniform and stretch to a final height of 100-120 cm (39-47 inches) tall.

Depending on the phenotype, flowering time can be as quick as 7 weeks, with other phenotypes requiring a full 9 weeks. A very versatile and tough plant who will produce excellent results in all climates.

When flowered indoors, yields of up to 650 g/m² (2,1 oz per square foot) can be harvested, making Green Poison highly productive and well advised to commercial scale growers.

Green Poison has a tropical, sweet and floral aroma and flavor with a strong and pungent edge. A wonderful choice for extract artists looking for something special. Her effects are devastatingly potent and are best suited for evening times and putting your feet up and unwinding after a long day.

Honorable Mentions

These may not have made the list, however Bubble Kush, White Rhino and K2 are perfectly suited for SOG setups indoors and outdoors.

Planting a high volume of small-sized plants can be very advantageous for an indoor grower. Not only do they ensure a quick harvest date, they can also rotate their flowering rooms every 7-9 weeks. SOG is a great way to reduce nutrient and electricity use, as well as allow a grower to produce impressive yields in small spaces.
